Dr. Clarissa Francis, known as The Real Hot Girl Doc, is an award-winning sexuality educator, Hot Girl Movement scholar-activist, and health equity consultant. For over 15 years, she has worked with colleges, organizations, and community leaders to address health disparities and promote healing in Black communities. She holds a Ph.D. in Human Sexuality from the California Institute of Integral Studies, an M.A. in Africana Women’s Studies from Clark Atlanta University, and a B.A. in Africana Studies with a minor in Psychology from Bowling Green State University. Her doctoral research explored pleasure activism and Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot Girl Summer as a pathway to Black women’s sexual liberation.
A Cleveland native, Dr. Francis credits her time in Atlanta for shaping her journey as a scholar-activist and sexually liberated Black woman. Bridging academia with holistic healing, she is also trained in massage therapy, reiki, and conscious erotic touch. Dr. Francis currently serves on the AASECT DEI Committee and the WoCSHN Leadership Collective. Through teaching, consulting, and workshops, she champions sexual and reproductive health, mental health awareness, and peer education for marginalized communities. She is the author of Phreak Like Me: Becoming The Real Hot Girl Doc (2022) and Black Women’s Bodily Autonomy, Sexual Freedom, and Pleasure: Explorations of the Hot Girl Movement (2025), part of the Leading Conversations on Black Sexualities and Identities series by Routledge.
